A recent news item said that the authorities have approved the proposal to reduce the minimum age to apply for and obtain a licence to 17 from 18. How risky or how safe is this decision going to be? What do you think?
In my personal opinion 17 years of age is very early for driving, obeying discipline and abiding by rules. With the cities in UAE gearing up for the all important Expo 2020 mega event in some years from now, the number of vehicles and the busy roads would be more than a regular site. At this time, the authorities should focus on how to reduce the number of vehicles on the road.

Yes good idea…….but licence test should be much harder and driving conditions in first year must be tougher (e.g no driving between 2300-600, always must have an adult in the car, no more than one passenger, 1 strike to cancellation etc)
