The use of a back fog light is only when there’s fog. Using when there’s no fog is just dazzling the drivers who are following you. A back fog light is not to be noticeable, or to say “hey, look at me, do you all see me? I’m different!”
The use of a front fog light is multiple: either during fog, but also when the ambient light is weak and you wanna light-up the sides of your car (to better see a pedestrian or animal). But, a fog light mustn’t be used alone ! For the same reason as above, some drivers just put the small lights + don’t put the city lights + put the fog lights. And when you cut their road cause you don’t see them, they yell at you.
Education and fines must be delivered about the proper use of fog lights. Lights are not for showing off: it’s a way to communicate with others and must be used like that only ! And i’ll not talk about the misuse of indicators, or people using distress lights just when they brake to let a pedestrian cross, or when they do a parking manoeuvre…
I wonder whether we see so many rear fog lights permanently on because drivers want to put their front fog lights on to bathe in the prestige of this $50 accoutrement, but don’t understand their cars’ switchpanels and turn both sets on.
