However, we strongly recommend for safety purposes to buy a vehicle with fog lights (front/rear). The UAE is prone to foggy conditions … and you just want to be safe and keep others safe!

Im planning to buy my first car, just wanted to make sure that the one I buy has all the things needed so that I will not be in trouble while on the road e.g. flagged by police for not having fog lights installed.

I agree that fog lights used when its not foggy are excessively bright, however in foggy conditions they are essential to ensure that vehicles are visible. The following distance should be increased such that the intensity of the light is not problematic. You should also slow down. Most fog-related traffic fatalities occur because someone was driving too fast and couldn’t stop in time to avoid a collision.
Remember that other drivers have a limited sight distance and that fog can leave roadways slick. Signal early, and when you use your brakes, apply them gently.
