We get used to ruls and guidelines in uae to be before any other country, and specifically in AD and Dubai and till know there is no rules or fines for recklessly Escooter driver specially the ones passes ZEBRA PEDESTRIAN CROSSING with Zigzag and high speed.. They have to cross on foot not on their vehicle as its speed might reach 30-40Km/h and can hit a person and injured h/her pretty badly, Needless to mention the kids and infants strollers might be crossing as well..
Something and a strict rule should be implemented regarding this issue and Consider it as electrical vehicle which can make a tremendous amount of damage for people..

Please do something about it.. That's what we are expecting from this great country to do to protect and serve the community.

Hello Venkat,

I am aligned with your thinking and certainly there is an urgent demand for more regulation with regards to e-micro-mobility types (scooters, bikes, carts, etc.), specs (performance, capacity, speed, etc.), riding rules, education/awareness creation, enforcement.

I will share your comments with government bodies who are already working on more and better regulations and certainly your input is highly appreciated.

Kind regards and drive safely,
Your RoadSafetyUAE Team

Your article on escooter rules & regulations is very insightful. However, as you have rightly pointed out, there is literally an explosion of escooter usage across Dubai even outside of the allowed zones. I notice escooters of different types, single seater, twin seater, escooters that almost look and sound like a motorbike but isnt classified as one etc., I've seen few of them zipping way above the speed limit, None of the escooter rider Ive seen dismount the escooter whilst using a zebra crossing. Few dont have lights, dont wear helmets, zip past red lights, drive against the traffic. These riders bring a bad name to the community.

Has the Government mandated escooter manufacturers to set maximum speed at 20Kms ( like it was mandated in UK) ? In Italy, the rules are tougher and also require all monopattini ( escooters) to have indicator lights...drivers should wear harness when riding after sunset.

I hope RTA would come out with more clarifications and more controls to make the escooter experience safe in Dubai.

Thanks you for the article
