We get used to ruls and guidelines in uae to be before any other country, and specifically in AD and Dubai and till know there is no rules or fines for recklessly Escooter driver specially the ones passes ZEBRA PEDESTRIAN CROSSING with Zigzag and high speed.. They have to cross on foot not on their vehicle as its speed might reach 30-40Km/h and can hit a person and injured h/her pretty badly, Needless to mention the kids and infants strollers might be crossing as well..
Something and a strict rule should be implemented regarding this issue and Consider it as electrical vehicle which can make a tremendous amount of damage for people..

Please do something about it.. That’s what we are expecting from this great country to do to protect and serve the community.

Hi Paul,

I fully agree and we made your point at several media interviews. Ideally, and in the public interest, school bus transportation should be subsidized by the authorities to get as many private (less utilized / occupied) vehicles off the road, especially during the traffic peak hours.

A better utilization of school buses would help school bus operators to improve their operational costs and to lower their fees. RTA earlier published figures, that in Dubai only 13% of students are transported in school buses, and that these buses are only occupied to 53%. This shows the tremendous potential!

Hi Rian,

Fully agree! We need to educate the ‘next generation’ from an early stage on. Parents must embrace road safety by making sure their children are in the proper child restraint systems right from birth onwards, educate them about how to interact safely with other road users, even if they are young. Parents must make sure their children follow the rules and laws, for example on eScooters (min 16 years of age, helmet, lights, etc.). Parents must also lead by GOOD example, meaning: always wear the seat belt, no distracted driving, no phone use behind the steering wheel, no road rage, display always caring and safe behavior, and as you state, no tailgating and using the indicator, and more. They drive a car and hence, it is fair to assume they have a driving license and they need how it’s done!

Persuading parents not to let their children hang out of windows and sunroofs would be a priority – alongside tailgating and not indicating. Getting on top of these small things would help everyone say safe.

If the same as yesterday Tay land school bus fire event that 25 childs got killed , what precautions Emirates transport company of 6000 school bus they owned, does have, do the drivers and super visors know how to behave during school bus fire. As what I see there are no way to scape because of blocked side windows and not easy to open from inside or outside
